"The people called K'ómoks today referred to themselves as Sathloot, Sasitla, Ieeksun, Puntledge, Cha'chae, and Tat'poos. They occupied sites in Kelsey Bay, Quinsum, Campbell River, Quadra Island, Kye Bay, and along the Puntledge estuary. As a cultural collective they called themselves, "Sathloot", according to the late Mary Clifton."1

Language Information

The people of the K'ómoks Nation have a traditional territory at the boundary of two of the major language families in British Columbia; to the north and west their neighbours speak Wakashan languages and to the south and east their neighbours speak Coast Salish languages. Although the families of the K'ómoks Nation originally spoke Éy7á7juuthem (also called Comox), through intermarriage some of the families now speak Kwak̓wala A.
